Proving that everything is cyclic, Williams Communications, originally founded as WilTel Communications in 1985, returns to its corporate roots in 2002 as it emerges from bankruptcy ready to take on new clients. Founded in 1985, WilTel Communications Group, Inc. sold most of its legacy network to WorldCom in 1995 and relaunched itself as a spinoff of energy giant Williams Cos. as Williams Communications in 1998. The company embarked on an aggressive buildout of a next-generation global network comprised entirely of high capacity OC-192 fiber. Unfortunately, the buildout also raised a mountain of debt that totaled nearly $7.2 billion, when the company filed for bankruptcy protection on April 22, 2002. In October 2002 the company completed its financial restructuring and emerged from Chapter 11 proceedings operating as WilTel Communications, donning a new name with its revitalized balance sheet. According to WilTel, its Internet Services offer a full range of custom solutions and complete connectivity. Whether you're a national, regional, or local service provider, its full-service wholesale division delivers superior redundancy, lower costs, and superior reliability. Using WilTel's private label IP products can immediately enhance your ISP's service offering, while freeing up valuable resources and letting you focus on your core expertiseretail marketing and end-user support. Williams delivers a full suite of best-of-class products, extending the traditional wholesale model to address the changing Internet marketplace. The company even offers our Internet products unbundled, allowing ISPs to select as many or as few services as you need. WilTel full-service wholesale options range from OC-12 connectivity to redundant DS-1 services. The WilTel fiber backbone has built-in superior redundancy features, upgradable pathways, and "no-surprise" pricing for ISPs. WilTel offers Tier 1 public and private Internet connectivity. WilTel's Data Centers are designed specifically for Internet activity. The
Data Centers are built directly on the company's OC-48 IP backbone and equipped
to handle the most extreme circumstances, including equipment failures, power
outages, natural disasters, and unpredictable weather patterns.
