Kabira Joins Alcatel Connected Partner Program

Flagship product, OpenSwitch Server, facilitates smooth flow of data between applications, eliminating multiple information entry and ensuring data integrity.

Kabira Technologies, Inc., recently announced its certification as Alcatel Alsthom's first infrastructure software vendor recently.

The certification ensures the interoperability of Kabira's software product line with all Alcatel partners and vendors. Alcatel is a worldwide fiber backbone and wireless carrier headquartered in Paris.

Alcatel's partnership program also includes Compaq Computer Corp., Concord Communications, Inc., and CrossKeys Systems Corp.

Seamless data transfer
Michael Manson, Alcatel assistant vice president of product management and network and service management, said Kabira software ensures the data integrity of the more than 1,000 customer and affiliate sites connected to the network.

"To help us meet increasing customer requirements we are actively building a portfolio of best-of-breed solutions that both interoperate with, and leverage our network and service management product offerings," Manson said. "Kabira is a key provider of infrastructure software to the Alcatel Connected program."

The independent software company's flagship product, the OpenSwitch server, lets information flow between applications so companies don't have to enter the same information multiple times.

In the case of a web hosting company, for example, the customer support person will enter a new customer's personal information once and other divisions of the company can access the information to suit their needs: The billing department would get the mailing address and credit card number information but not the domain name or the name of the registrar, for example.

Success breeds success
Kabira is the evolution of its predecessor company, OpenSwitch Corp., which was rooted in the telecommunications industry, serving competitive local exchanges and digital subscriber line and wireless providers. Additional e-commerce and financial services customers prompted the company's expansion, adding software products and features to accommodate e-commerce and financial services.

Using this technology, an e-ccommerce site can offer real-time stock quotes to customers regardless of platform. Now, a Linux user accesses the same information as a Palm Pilot user.

Kabira is a privately held company that found support from investors including Argo Global Capital, Crosspoint Venture Partners and the E*Trade Group.
