NeuStar, Inc., has successfully assumed operational responsibility for .US, the country code top-level domain for the United States. The Washington, D.C.-based NeuStar is responsible for the administration of all dot-US domain names, which includes providing technical and customer assistance to the dot-US user community.

NeuStar will also conduct a detailed review of the functionality and policy guidelines that currently exists in the dot-US namespace with the goal of providing enhanced performance.

NeuStar operates the registry of all North American telephone numbers and administers the database, which all North American carriers rely upon to route billions of telephone calls daily.

NeuLevel, NeuStar's subsidiary, operates the .BIZ registry.

Jeffrey E. Ganek, chief executive officer of NeuStar said, "NeuStar is committed to enhancing the dot-US Internet address. This operational transition is an important first step in providing a secure and reliable place on the Internet where U.S. residents, government, businesses and public interest organizations can establish an American identity."
