Cox Selects InfoVista The Micromuse Netcool event manager at the Cox NOC will enable network administrators to monitor the status of the entire Cox network in real time.
Cox Communications Inc., the nation's fifth largest full-service cable television company has selected InfoVista's real-time reporting solutions to provide information for capacity planning and performance management to the Cox Network Operations Center (NOC) in Atlanta. InfoVista (NASDAQ:IVTA) is a global provider of advanced software which monitors, analyzes and reports on the performance, availability and quality of service of Information Technology Infrastructure (ITI). "InfoVista lets us monitor equipment performance at the interface level through its comprehensive data gathering," said David Fears, director of the NOC. "The InfoVista product allows central gathering of this information, and then presentation of the data to field engineers through web based reports." InfoVista's real time network reporting solution will monitor and report on Cox's production network, providing statistics on a variety of equipment, including ATM elements and a variety of cable modem terminating systems (CMTS's). Real time traps on events, and performance metrics, are sent to the Micromuse Netcool network event manager at the NOC. "Customers like Cox are demanding reporting solutions that our competitors can't provide," said Anthony Vidal, chief operating officer of InfoVista. "As a network critical company, Cox realizes the importance in eliminating network downtime." Cox Communications serves approximately 6.2 million customers nationwide.
