HP Spikes Management Platform HP OpenView management platform imbibes with Spike solutions to offer service providers seamless network manageability and the ability to create a wholly integrated connections between wired and wireless systems.
Fixed wireless broadband solutions provider Spike Broadband Systems, Inc. this week secured a global OEM agreement with Hewlett-Packard Company. According to the terms of the deal, Spike will integrate HP's network management platform with its fixed wireless broadband access solutions. The products are designed to allow service providers to quickly deploy applications like high-speed data, voice and multimedia services. Using the HP OpenView management platform, Spike offers service providers seamless wireless network manageability and the ability to create a wholly integrated connection between wired and wireless networks. Jim Zucco, Spike chairman and chief executive officer, said effective network management is a critical component of network deployment. "Spike's new system management tools will increase service providers' ability to manage their broadband service across both their wireless and wireline networks," Zucco said. Patty Azzarello, HP OpenView Software Business Unit vice president and general manager said service providers need a solution that will manage their networks efficiently and intelligently today as much as they need a solution that provides investment protection for tomorrow. "The coupling of Spike's technology and the HP OpenView platform gives service providers the scalable, manageable system they need to meet the growing demand for broadband services," Azzarello said. "Equally important, the solution helps service providers improve their network performance and quality of service, while reducing costs and down time." The agreement between HP and Spike is expected to enable fixed wireless broadband service providers to better manage their entire wireless and wireline network infrastructure and allow them to cost-effectively diversify or increase broadband services to customers. The products enabled by the agreement will increase connectivity between networks, simplify network monitoring and management, reduce points of failure across the network and minimize network down time. Management tools based on Spike technology and the HP OpenView platform are expected to be available early in the second quarter of this year, and will offer service providers:
Enhanced network management capability allows service providers to automate time-consuming tasks, reduce administration time and free up internal resources. End
