Finding a Tower, Part II

Members of the ISP-Wireless list share resources for finding the owners of towers for wireless antennas in both the United States and in Canada.

On the ISP-Wireless list in April, JK asked,

"Does anyone know of a source where one can find the owners and locations of towers to place wireless antennas on?"

A number of respondents recommended a wide range of useful websites:

[KM advised] "Check out wireless.fcc.gov, and click on the 'Registration Search' link."

[MA agreed] "The fcc.gov website allows you to put in a point (latitude and longitude) and a radius: that will give you a list of all registered towers with height and contact info."

[SA added] "You might also want this address: www.berkana.com/tower.php3."

[KS offered] "Here are two more sites: www.search4sites.com and www.cellsitexpress.com. Cellsitexpress.com also has a Gold membership that will give you a more detailed search for towers in your area for a fee."

[RS noted] "Here's another: http://www.americantower.com/OasisPublic/Mappoint/default.asp."

[KC added] "SpectraSite has towers all over: you can even view pictures from the tops of the towers."

[EG observed] "These sites help you locate towers and grain elevators: www.towerkill.com and http://www.bnsf.com/markets/agricultural/elevator/elevmenu.html."

GM followed up with an international perspective:

"This is very cool! Any idea how to do it in Canada?"

BW shared some advice from the North:

"Check out http://apollo.ic.gc.ca/engdoc/main.html: the Radio Frequency (TAFL) Search function will show you the owner of any commercial tower in Canada."
