uSTOR-II Storage Appliance

New appliance promises enhanced performance and scalability, and fast installation.

Network Storage Solutions recently announced the addition of uSTOR-II (pronounced "micro-store" as in µ), to its line of storage solutions.

According to the company, uSTOR-II's redundant power supplies, enhanced performance, scalability, ease-of-use, compact modular 2-rack mount unit packaging and five minute installation make it an attractive storage platform for ISPs that require fast access to large amounts of information.

uSTOR-II is the latest NAS module for Network Storage Solutions's (NSS) Thunderbolt NAS systems. Powered by the company's SPANStor multi-protocol NAS kernel, uSTOR-II supports over two Terabytes of SCSI RAID storage. NSS says that its network processing technology offers uSTOR-II users investment protection because it uses industry-standard hardware that may be easily upgraded to remain current with new technologies.

The device ships standard with an 800MHz Pentium-III with 66Mhz 64-bit PCI support, 256MB of memory, and an internal multi-channel RAID controller.

"Our products are designed to provide enterprise class performance and scalability for workgroup and departmental users who are looking to lower their total cost of storage ownership," said Brad Clemmons, President and CEO of Network Storage Solutions. "Our uSTOR-II NAS appliances are optimized to deliver data with quick response times to both UNIX and Windows clients concurrently."

"Many of our ISP customers wanted the small form factor of our award winning uSTOR NAS appliance, but needed fault tolerant power supplies," added Clemmons. "NSS continues our history of responding to customer requests with the introduction of the uSTOR-II. It not only upgrades the power options, but increases the CPU, expansion capabilities, and bus bandwidth as well."

Pricing and availability
Available now, uSTOR-II has a list price of $49,595 and includes 730GB of storage.
