New Server Supports Large Messaging Networks

Mirapoint is a company that only makes messaging equipment. Mirapoint's M2000 Internet Message Server is designed to enable ISPs to offer reliable and secure messaging services.

[December 30, 2000]

Mirapoint, a provider of Internet messaging infrastructure products, recently introduced its high-performance server appliance, the M2000 Internet Message Server.

According to Mirapoint, the M2000 Internet Message Server is designed exclusively to handle messaging, and give service providers and enterprises tools that can help them keep up with the demand for advanced messaging capabilities. The M2000 Internet Messaging Server is made up of software and hardware components that are designed to drive messages quickly through a network. The server's messaging-specific design may provide service providers and enterprises with a turnkey solution that can be easily deployed, and enable faster time-to-market and greater scalability.

Mirapoint says that a key component of the M2000 is its cluster capability that allows a second redundant server to automatically take over in the event that an active server fails. This cluster capability may also enable service providers to offer better service level agreements, which, in turn, may make it possible for ISPs and ASPs to target new customers with the assurance of guaranteed uptime and service reliability. "With the M2000, ISPs will be able to handle the requirements of larger messaging networks," said Satish Ramachandran, chairman and CEO, Mirapoint. "Now, ISPs can target new types of customers, such as enterprises that are looking for an outsourced solution. Mirapoint makes it easy for ISPs to do this by enabling them to offer meaningful service level agreements—making it possible to give customers the assurance of guaranteed uptime."

"Mirapoint was founded on the philosophy that messaging services are best delivered on specialized messaging computers rather than on messaging applications that reside on top of general-purpose systems," Added Ramachandran. "Our strategy and vision has enabled us to create a high-performing system to handle messaging environments with the most demanding service requirements."

Pricing and availability
The M2000 Internet Message Server is available now from Mirapoint in North America, Europe and Asia. It operates as a single stand-alone device, or in concert with Mirapoint's Internet Message Router and Internet Message Switch.

Pricing is based on the number of users per system.
