Faster, More Reliable Data Storage Eurologic will incorporate Seagate's 2 Gbit Fibre Channel and Ultra 160 SCSI capabilities into its data storage solutions.
Eurologic Systems will integrate the latest generation of storage interface technologies into its family of data storage products to offer high-performance data access, transfer, and storage. More specifically, the company will incorporate Seagate Technology's disc drive technologies that support 2Gb Fibre Channel and Ultra160 SCSI, into its lines of storage area network (SAN) -ready and universal storage products. With 2Gb Fibre Channel technology in place, Eurologic claims that its products will provide extremely high bandwidthsup to 200 MB per second over a single loopwhich may be used by applications such as video, broadband communications, and electronic commerce. These applications will run more effectively when they use a SAN solution that provides simultaneous access at high bandwidths. Furthermore, integration of Seagate's Ultra160 SCSI data transfer technology into Eurologic's data storage technology will enable the company to offer its customers faster, more reliable data transfer without jeopardizing their existing data storage investments. Ultra160 SCSI provides significant advancements in the rate of data transfer, and offers data transfer speeds of up to 160B per second, which is double the speed of the previous generation of SCSI. "With dual loop 2-Gbit Fibre Channel data rates reaching up to 400 Mbytes per second, and with Seagate's Fairness technology in our Ultra160 SCSI implementation, bottlenecks at critical network junctures decrease and more distributed computing eases the flow of transmission traffic," says Sherman Black, Seagate vice president of Enterprise Product Line Management. "We expect this technology to fuel massive growth in the deployment of Storage Area Networks." Availability End |
