Adaptec's Agile Adapter Low-Profile Ultra160 SCSI Adapter offers fast storage bandwidth to rack-mount servers.
Adaptec announced the availability of its Ultra160 SCSI low-profile host bus adapter designed for modular rack-mount servers. According to the company, its Adaptec SCSI Card 29160LP doubles the speed of Ultra2 and provides the performance, functionality and affordability of the Adaptec Ultra160 SCSI line in a low-profile format. The Adaptec SCSI Card 29160LP conforms to the MD2 low-profile form-factor standard. Ultra160 SCSI provides twice the performance of Ultra2 SCSI, and Adaptec says that the 29160LP offers the storage bandwidth that ISPs require within an Intel Architecture-based server deployment. The Ultra160 SCSI cards use the same accessories as Ultra2 SCSI, eliminating the need for new LVD SCSI cables or terminators. In addition, new management features provide greater data integrity preservation at higher transfer rates. Adaptec also says that it extensively tested the new device on over a dozen operating system versions and hundreds of computer systems. "Low-profile rack-mount servers are increasingly popular with ISPs, ASPs, and large enterprises," said Jeff Loebbaka, vice president of corporate and channel marketing at Adaptec. "These servers are smaller, require high storage bandwidth, are easier to use and are more cost-effective compared to traditional servers. Servers running e-business applications require the fastest in storage connectivity performance and Adaptec is leading the way." Price and Availability End |
