ADTRAN's NetVanta 3305, is a modular two-slot access router designed for networks expecting growth and for the provision of multiple services.

The product features:

  • IPSec VPN with 3DES and AES encryption
  • Two network interface slots
  • Dual Ethernet ports
  • Stateful inspection firewall
  • A command line interface similar to those of other router manufacturers
  • A built-in CSU/DSU

The product uses ADTRAN's proprietary operating system, ADTRAN OS. The company offers a five-year domestic warranty with technical support, and free OS upgrades through ADTRAN's website.

The NetVanta 3305 is a 1U rackmount box. The product uses an 80 MHz Motorola MPC 860 processor with 32 MB of RAM and 8 MB of flash memory.

The product's two network interface slots can hold any one of several Network Interface Modules (NIMs). NIMs can have DSX-1 for dropping off voice traffic to a PBX or a serial interface. As an additional option, Dial Backup Interface Modules (DIMs) can be added to prevent network downtime for customers using ISDN BRI or analog modem technology.

Pricing and availability
The product will be available in February. The chassis will sell for $1,295, and in the following pre-configured bundles:

  • With a T-1/FT-1 NIM: $1,595
  • With a T-1/FT-1 NIM with DSX-1: $1,745

NIMs can be purchased separately at the following prices:

  • 56/64 Kbps: $250
  • T-1/FT-1: $300
  • T-1/FT-1 with DSX-1: $450
  • Serial interface: $300

DIMs can be purchased separately at the following prices:
