SMC Networks recently launched its TigerAccess line of remote management servers. This line of remote management servers will feature 16- and 32-port variants with an 11 Mbps wireless remote management server that will follow next month.

According to the company, the TigerAccess line offers a versatile remote access solution that provides secure connectivity for a variety of users.

To support a wide range of secure access applications including Dial-in, Dial-out, LAN-to-LAN, Console Server and ISP connections, all models will support Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), Password Authentication Protocol (PAP), Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP), Serial Line Internet Protocol, SecurID, Radius, Kerberos, Unix, NetWare, and local database for authentication on both inbound and outbound connections.

The company says that its TigerAccess servers are perfect for enterprise applications or VAR-centric service enhancements, which require the management and monitoring of mission-critical networks and applications.

TigerAccess products also support dial-back, which requires a user to authenticate and then have the TigerAccess dial back the user at a predefined number.

According to the company, network administrators and service providers may now be ensured of limited system downtime by staying securely connected to the network at all times.

"These products enable the remote servicing of client networks," said Tony Stramandinoli, director of worldwide product marketing for SMC Networks. "Which should be a real plus to our service providers and channel partners who will be able to offer more services without incurring additional costs."

Availability and pricing
The 16- and 32-port versions will be available through channel partners beginning early April, at an estimated street price of $2,115 and $3,450, respectively.

A 1-port wireless server will be available in May at an estimated street price of $535.
