Security Service for Service Providers

SecureWorks' Internet security service works with the SecureWorks iSensor appliance to prevent attacks before they happen. It uses fingerprint correlation technology to identify intruders and deny them access.

SecureWorks launched an attack signature service designed specifically for Internet service providers and application service providers.

According to the company, SecureWorks is the first "next generation" Internet security service designed to prevent network intrusions by professional hackers.

The company provides comprehensive intrusion prevention through three key components:

  1. real-time intervention
  2. data fingerprint correlation
  3. dynamic inoculation technology

SecureWorks' proactive security solution works with iSensor, the firm's Internet security appliance.

SecureWorks' new offering protects servers and databases by using its data fingerprint correlation technology to recognize intrusions and then denying access to the intrusion. When used with iSensor, SecureWorks' Linux-based information security appliance that is designed to automatically block malicious packets while allowing "safe" packets to pass through, it should automatically and instantly block attacks. The result, according to SecureWorks, is robust security that minimizes security exposure.

With its dynamic inoculation technology, SecureWorks is designed to immediately distribute new attack signatures to the iSensor as they are identified. The company says that this proactive approach assures that the latest updates and protection are always available. As a result, businesses may no longer have to wait until a network or security administrator has the time to download updates because the iSensor will be updated automatically and on a continual basis.

"The demand for this service grew from the increasing sophistication of the professional hacker community targeting ASPs and ISPs," said SecureWorks President and CEO Robert Minkhorst. "We are happy to meet the demands of all our customers using the Internet for their business and infrastructure needs."

According to SecureWorks, customers using third party providers such as ASPs, ISPs, and hosting facilities demand security. And an ISP can generate an intrusion alert every 15 seconds—an unwieldy volume for one ISP—because it is an aggregate target for the professional hacker.

Availability and pricing
SecureWorks is available now.

Pricing is based on the number of servers. SecureWorks requested that pricing information not be published with this story.

According to atlanta.internet.com, the iSensor appliance is available from Sun Microsystems on its Sun Cobalt RaQ platform.
