Porivo's Web testing service helps ISPs monitor Web transactions, learn about the responsiveness of their sites to end-users, and simulate last-mile performance.

Porivo Technologies, a provider of end-to-end Web performance testing products, announced the launch of peerReview Transaction, a service that measures the speed of complete, multi-page user sequences from the edge of the network and is designed to capture the latencies introduced in the "last mile" of the Internet.

According to the company, Porivo's peerReview Transaction service lets companies easily record transaction "scripts" that represent entire online user sequences, including login and secure pages, database look-ups, search, and purchase transactions. With its "record and play" interface, Porivo's customers use their Web browsers to record realistic transactions, such as logging onto brokerage accounts, verifying account balances, transferring funds, and executing stock trades. The peerReview Transaction Recorder can also program "think time" for each step of a transaction, providing a realistic evaluation of a customer's experience.

Once the transactions are recorded and uploaded to Porivo's servers, they may be replayed across Porivo's network of end users' PCs, which is designed to represent the same geographies, Internet connection types, and network conditions of customers. By measuring the speed of these simulated transactions, peerReview Transaction provides an ISP with an indication of performance visibility across the "last mile," all the way to the user's desktop.

peerReview Transaction is an extension of Porivo's core peerReview product, which allows companies to evaluate the speed of their websites. By measuring end-to-end Web performance through Porivo's testing network—thousands of real users' PCs positioned across the globe—peerReview is designed to gather high-frequency performance measurements under the most realistic conditions.
