Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting Service Providers may now be able to fulfill their authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) needs using a new AAAEngine RADIUS appliance from Interlink Networks and Network Engines.
Interlink Networks' AAAEngine RADIUS appliance will consist of special-purpose server hardware from Network Engines. According to the companies, the combined product should be easy to specify, purchase, install and operate, and will allow service providers to deploy AAA infrastructure rapidly and cost effectively and provide a future-proof path for adding new features and functionality. The companies say that service providers feel an increasing sense of urgency to implement new services and control the cost of supporting their network infrastructure. And every ISP requires one or more AAA servers to control access to their network, authenticate users, authorize users for a variety of services and account for their activities. Managing AAA activities may be complicated by a shortage of employees with technical knowledge of today's AAA technology and emerging standards. The companies claim that their AAAEngine is the perfect answer to a trouble-free implementation. Interlink claims that its AAA RADIUS Server has an innovative, modular design that consists of an AAA server framework supported by a variety of "plug-ins" that come standard. As demand for new functionality increases, ISPs may be able to receive new plug-ins from Interlink Networks to enhance the value of their infrastructure without starting over. This way, implementing a new service or changing network configuration may be as easy as activating the appropriate plug-in. "Interlink Networks' robust AAA RADIUS Server is a natural fit with our appliance platforms," said Lawrence Genovesi, chairman and CEO of Network Engines. "The new solution offers plug-and-go deployment which will enable service providers to deploy new services quickly." "We understand how critical AAA is to service providers and are proud to introduce this new product to the market with an experienced appliance provider like Network Engines," said Clinton Fuller, chief executive officer of Interlink Networks. Availability and pricing A complete entry-level system starts at $3,995.00 and includes the pre-configured hardware and software as well as a one-year maintenance agreement.
