Filanet Corp., based out of Sunnyvale, Calif., has made three new versions of its InterJak 200 available this week. New access options include the InterJak 200 V.35, Ethernet Plus and 802.11b series.

Filanet makes an extensive range of broadband access choices and the additional Ethernet ports enable easy set up of DMZs and isolated access to corporate LANs and WANS, be they wired or wireless. Users can readily determine their mode of access much like they share files and printer connections across a network. Service providers deploying the InterJak for customer's networks are able to securely deliver services such as VPN access, content filtering, and network monitoring.

Avner Ben-Dor, Filanet president and chief executive offices, says the company is continuing to meet market needs for expanded access choices.

"The InterJak 200 provides service providers with a cost-effective, best-of-breed solution to deliver network services to small and remote offices, Ben-Dor said.

Popular support
Specifically, the V.35 interface designed for T1-connections allows high-speed connectivity to the Internet or across corporate WANs. The InterJak platform supports PPP and Frame Relay protocols.

With the 802.11b interface, InterJak users can securely connect wirelessly to either a local or wide area network. For LAN connectivity the InterJak platform can serve as an access point for other 802.11b devices. If an access point already exists, then the InterJak platform can connect to the existing access point as a wireless work station on the network. The 802.11b version includes an external omni-directional antenna, providing wireless access in a covered propagation range up to 400 feet.

When it comes to WAN connectivity the InterJak platform can connect to an external antenna that extends the range to over 20 miles. The solution provides an alternative to traditional wired broadband access.

The three port Ethernet option is designed for businesses that utilize Ethernet connections to WANs, much like a DSL modem connects to the same. It also connects a separate DMZ LAN to host corporate Web sites or even an email server.

InterJak 200 standard features include:

  • Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server and client capabilities manage and assign IP addresses and settings on the LAN and WAN.
  • Network Address Translation (NAT), Network Address Port Translation (NAPT), and Multi-NAT map internal to external IP addresses, securing internal addresses.
  • IP Routing between Ethernet and WAN ports.
  • DMZ Support for dedicated LAN segment support to public host while private data is secured on a separate LAN segment.

Pricing and availability
All of the new products are available immediately from Filanet. The InterJak 200 with the 802.11b interface is available for $1,095. The T1/E1 interface is available for $1,295 and the Ethernet Plus is available for a suggested retail price of $695, but actual prices may vary.
