Clustra, a database company, and RLX Technologies, a server blade company, have formed an alliance to put a six-node high-availability database into a single RLX box.

Clustra is offering a "database-in-a-box" by combining its software with RLX hardware, cramming a "five-nines" availability database (i.e., a database that will be up 99.999 percent of the time) into a single box containing seven server blades.

Clustra Systems Inc. announced that its SQL-92 database is being offered on RLX System 324 hardware in a six node configuration for $49,990, a steep discount off the regular $120,000 price for a six node setup (below).

• RLX System 324 chassis with cables
• Six RLX ServerBlades for data (512 MB RAM and two 10 GB drives)
