Solution Enables CLECs to Enter Voice VPN MarketBy Wayne
Kawamoto June 7, 2001 -- VocalTec Communications Ltd. (VocalTec) (NASDAQ: VOCL) introduced its VocalTec Voice Virtual Private Network (VPN) Platform for CLECs. According to VocalTec, its Voice VPN Platform lets CLECs-as well as independent telcos and other service providers--offer customers Voice VPNs while incurring less than half the conventional platform and network costs. "Until today, Voice VPN services could only be offered by large phone companies able to support the high costs of Class 5 switch ports, DACS ports and dedicated long distance facilities," said Ira Palti, COO of VocalTec. "Now, service providers previously shut out of the lucrative market can deploy Voice VPNs nationally and internationally at a low cost - and benefit from an impressive return-on-investment." "Demand for VoIP VPN services is coming directly from the multi-location, often multi-national enterprise using a managed IP service today," said Christin J. Flynn, Program Manager for Carrier Convergence Infrastructure at the Yankee Group. "Service providers have a choice: they can deliver those services and gain new revenues from those enterprises, or they can lose customers. VocalTec's solution offers the CLECs access to the Voice VPN market, where they may otherwise be unable to compete with large, incumbent service providers. Now, CLECs can offer their customers the advantage of easily connecting employees, departments, and divisions, while also retaining convenient dialing plans." |
