New Product Increases DSL ReliabilityAugust 25, 2000 -- LMKI, a single-source managed service provider, announced the availability of its fully redundant connectivity solutions that are designed to increase the reliability of DSL for business customers. Using LMKI's national fault-tolerant infrastructure, customers should be able to take advantage of broadband connections from multiple LEC and CLEC access providers to ensure a diverse connection to their Real Private Network (RPN) or to the Internet. According to the company, LMKI's redundant DSL product can be applied in combination with DSL or other types of transit such as T1 or Frame Relay and is configured to ensure 100 percent uptime despite outages. Additionally, the multiple broadband connections employed for an LMKI customer using the service are combined into a single, faster connection when not in fail-over mode. The company says that the result is expanded performance and availability for Internet or RPN access. LMKI offers this fully redundant option throughout North America. To provide further dependability of its RPN and Internet circuits, LMKI has introduced a narrowband option that provides backup connectivity via switched ISDN or a V.90 modem. This backup architecture allows a DSL router at the customer's premises to fail-over to ISDN or V.90 modem capacity when sensing an interruption in DSL service, which should prevent downtime or the interruption of the functionality of critical business applications, such as point-of-sale transaction processing. |
