March 26, 2002 -- Redback Networks Inc. (Nasdaq:RBAK), a provider of metro broadband and optical networking equipment announced that Verizon has extended deployment of the Redback SMS platform of subscriber management systems in its broadband network. Verizon also intends to begin implementing Redback's NetOp SMS element manager for simplification of critical network management tasks including flow-through provisioning.

Deployed at the carriers' metro network or service providers' points-of-presence (POPs), the SMS 10000 platform is designed to deliver scalability, high-performance and carrier-class redundancy providing service providers a cost-effective solution to provision, aggregate and manage subscribers and enable the creation of new value-added services.
