Level 3 Announces Backbone Agreement With TriumphWayne
Kawamoto February 20, 2002 -- Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: LVLT) announced that it has signed an agreement to provide a North American transport backbone to Triumph Communications, Inc., a New York-based provider of private digital fiber networks for broadcast customers. Triumph, a subsidiary of Liberty Livewire Corporation (Nasdaq: LWIRA), a majority-owned subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation (NYSE: L; LMC.B), is using approximately 35 high-speed private line circuits from Level 3 as part of its OC-12 network backbone, over which it is offering enhanced services to its customers. Level 3 turned up many of the Triumph circuits using its On-Net Transport Activation Process (ONTAP) provisioning system. This proprietary system enables delivery of wavelength and private line service in less than 10 business days. The industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan recently presented ONTAP with its prestigious Market Engineering Award, calling it "a major customer service differentiation" for the company. -End- |
